Monmouth Raft Race PB?

Sunday was our third entry into the Monmouth Raft Race, and what a day it turned out to be!

For those who are unfamiliar, the Monmouth Raft Race is an annual event that takes participants down a 6.5 mile stretch of the River Wye (on a DIY raft), starting at the Monmouth Rowing Club and ending in Tump Farm, Whitebrook.

This fantastic day is organised with the aim of raising money for the selected charities – namely St David’s Hospice Care.

Unlike the two years prior, we opted for a six-person crew, convinced this would yield the fastest time yet. We were right, sort of. We crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 29 minutes and 31 seconds – exactly 11 seconds quicker than last year!

The day couldn’t have been better, the sun was shining and the laughs were endless. Most importantly, we raised a large sum for our charity, St David’s Hospice Care. At the time of writing, we’ve raised over £830.00.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who donated to our Just Giving page, offered support on the day and to our amazing chefs who provided a (much needed) BBQ after the race!

We can’t wait to do it all again next year, plans are already underway to further improve the raft!
